Matt and Maddy’s absolutely gorgeous wedding at Hidden Meadow Barn was truly a wedding photographer’s paradise! This is one of those weddings that just stick with us throughout the wedding season when we’re thinking about our favorite weddings of the year! Hidden Meadow Barn offers so many great photo opportunities and their intention of crafting a beautiful wedding venue that serves the couple, their guests, and their vendors is truly amazing!

Now, you’ll get enough of us doting about this venue later on in the blog! Let’s just hop to it and I’ll tell you about Maddy and Matt’s awesome wedding!

Getting Ready: Laughs, Love, and Leisure!

From the first few minutes of our client call with Maddy and Matt, we wanted them to book with us so bad! During the call, the jokes were flowing and we just connected energetically! There were no nerves present in talking with them and it truly felt like we were jumping on a call with old friends.

When we received the email from them that they were going to book with us, we were ecstatic! I won’t lie, I may or may not have thrown an impromptu dance party when we read that email. You can only imagine Aaron’s face as that went down. Not only did we get to work with this amazing couple, we got to shoot at this amazing venue and we knew that the pictures we had seen could not possibly do this venue justice!

After a few months of anticipating these two’s wedding, their big day finally floated around! Hidden Meadow Barn is located in Pepin, Wisconsin so it was a little over an hour and a half drive for us. As we got closer to the venue, our excitement to shoot there grew even more. Rolling hills and breathtaking natural landscape unfolded all around us. It was one of the moments where you think to yourself, “I feel like I’m in a different country but I’m not that far from home.”

Pulling down the drive of Hidden Meadow Barn, trees beckon you closer and closer to the venue, keeping you on the edge of your seat to finally get a good look at the venue. Walking over to the cottages where everyone was getting ready, Aaron and I’s eyes were all over the place. There was so much beauty to take in, we just didn’t know where to look! Although the sky was overcasted and we weren’t blessed with a super sunny day, that didn’t stop nature from expressing her beauty in all its glory.

At this point, Aaron and I split up so I could take pictures of the bride and bridesmaids getting ready and he could tackle the groom and groomsmen. Hidden Meadow Barn has these amazing little cottages for the wedding party to get ready! The Bridal Cottage has everything you could want in a bridal suite. There’s space for everyone to get ready and it matches that rustic vibe that radiates through the venue! The Groom’s Room is the perfect crash pad for a groom and his groomsmen. Complete with a foosball table, a flat-screen TV, and a sofa, you can bring the man cave right to your wedding! It’s so nice to see both parties have a designated place to get ready! This isn’t always the case for wedding venues and it’s great to see both parties get the attention they deserve!

Matt and Maddy met us with big hugs when we started shooting their wedding! Just like that feeling on the client call, it felt like we were catching up with old friends even though it was the first we were meeting in person! Their love was infectious over the screen during their call but it was even more so on their wedding day. Both had big grins that stretched from each side of their face and their energy was filled with pure excitement!

A Unique First Look w/ Barn Doors at Hidden Meadow Barn

At the entrance to the ceremony location at Hidden Meadow Barn, there is a set of barn doors that welcome guests to this beautiful venue! But beyond this, these barn doors can be used as a sort of prop for an amazing first look! And that’s exactly what we did!

Walking out to the ceremony location with Matt, we sparked up some conversation to anxiously pass the time before Maddy was ready for the first look. Positioning him on one side of the barn door and her on the other, we got some awesome shots of them holding hands with their backs to the doors. These built the anticipation even more to see each other!

Opening the barn doors, we all were ready for the first look! Slowly walking with her long train trailing behind her, Maddy approached her future husband. Quickly, Matt turned around and embraced his bride in a big hug. Immediately, they started talking about their mornings without each other and it just goes to show that not only are these two madly in love, they’re best friends at the core of their relationship!

Following the first look, Matt and Maddy exchanged some personal words to each other! We think this is such a sweet idea and it really doesn’t have to be a huge thing! It’s just a moment to express your love for another before your ceremony, taking a moment for the two of you!

With Matt and Maddy in tow, we began our adventures around the venue! Making sure to stop at all of the rustic buildings scattered throughout Hidden Meadow Barn, we made sure to grab some photos of the happy couple as well as explore all the nooks and crannies of this amazing venue.

Wedding Party and Family Photos: Pictures Galore

Meeting up with the rest of the wedding party, we started taking pictures of the entire wedding party. Let me just say: This was an amazing group of people. Everyone was just so comfortable with each other and wanted to have fun and enjoy the day. There are times when we shoot weddings where there’s some sort of drama in the wedding party but there was no room for that in Matt and Maddy’s wedding party!

Starting with the bridesmaids, these girls were just so much fun to work with! There were laughs all around and it was hard to wipe the smiles off of there faces which is ironic because we got some amazing shots of Maddy with her bridesmaids wearing serious faces. We like taking these kinds of pictures to add some versatility to your wedding gallery but, often, the excitement of the day prevents the wedding party from being able to contain their grins. But with Maddy and her girls, we were able to get one of my favorite pictures we have ever taken with a bride and her bridesmaids!

That positive, feel-good energy radiated through to the groomsmen! Even when they were having drinks and playing foosball in the Groom’s Room, there were smiles all around. Our favorite part about working with this group of groomsmen is that we allowed them to have fun with their pictures. At one point, the groomsmen were joking about Matt’s butt in his dress pants and telling him to show it off for the pictures. We love being able to provide a comfortable space in front of the camera that allows people to be themselves!

Out in the rolling fields of Hidden Meadow Barn, we snapped some pictures of the whole group with the hills in the background. It was here, looking out at the expansive landscape with the wedding party, that we knew this was going to be a wedding day to remember!

After wedding party pictures, we moved on to taking pictures with the family of the bride and groom! What was so special about this was that we could just feel how excited everyone was to see Matt and Maddy get married!

Ceremony and Reception: Celebrating the Love

With wedding party and family pictures out of the way, it was time for the ceremony! As the wedding guests, flocked toward the beautiful ceremony area, you could feel the love that brought everyone out to celebrate Maddy and Matt’s marriage.

We were able to capture Maddy and her dad right before they walk down the aisle. It was really something to be able to capture! Through those photos, you can feel the jitters but, mainly, those good vibes that leave you feeling warm inside.

Sealing their marriage with a heart-warming ceremony, Matt and Maddy finally walked down the aisle as husband and wife! Cheers scattered all about as the happy couple walked back down the aisle. Outside of the ceremony are, Maddy threw her hands up in the air out of excitement!

Walking over to the reception pavilion, I looked over and saw a baby deer lying in the tall grass! We were blown away! It was so cute and it was just such a magical thing to happen after a beautiful wedding!

As the reception began, the drinks were flowing and it seemed everyone was having a good time. Hidden Meadow Barn has a bunch of activities like corn hole and Jenga that can be used to occupy the wedding guests during social hour and the reception. We’re not lying when we tell you this venue really has all the details straightened out!

After heartwarming speeches from the wedding party and those closest to Maddy and Matt, the feast began! Hearts were full and so were stomachs as the guests indulged in some delicious food in Hidden Meadow Barn’s gorgeous covered reception area adorned with amazing wooden barn tables!

Before we knew it, it was time for the first dance! Matt and Maddy took the floor as the wedding guests looked on in admiration of the love they have for each other! Suddenly, a little girl from one of the tables ran out and joined the couple for their first dance. Instead of freaking out or becoming annoyed, Matt and Maddy picked up the little girl and embraced her for their first dance! This truly speaks to their character as people as just being such genuine, down-to-Earth people.

Following the first dance, the rest of the wedding guests were invited out on the dance floor! Matt had given Maddy his jacket to keep her warm as they danced with everyone who came out to celebrate their love!

Sunset Photos at Hidden Meadow Barn

Stealing the couple away for some solo shots of the two of them, we continued our adventure through Hidden Meadow Barn and the many photo spots the offer! In the reception area, there is this beautiful wooden pallet wall with these gorgeous, rustic lights hanging from it! We busted out our crystals and were able to get some super cool pictures with the trippy effects from the crystals!

After this, we ran away from the craziness of the day and escaped into the oasis that the fields of Hidden Meadow Barn offered! These two were just so ecstatic to be married and it really comes through in their photos! The photos truly speak for themselves!

Finishing it off, Matt and Maddy asked if they could get a picture with us! This was so sweet and just goes to show how connected we felt to this couple and their love!

In Sum: What a Wedding!

This wedding was absolutely stunning and we could not have been more grateful to have been a part of it! To Matt and Maddy, we have so much love for you two and cannot wait to celebrate all of the future seasons of your love! It’s couples like you that remind us why we love what we do so much! This wedding day will be remembered forever and we are so thankful to build lasting memories with you!
