Beyond being a special moment to celebrate your love and engagement, your engagement photos can be used in so many ways! As wedding photographers who bundle engagement sessions into their wedding packages, we know the importance of having engagement photos but we often get questions of how to USE those engagement photos. Well today, we’re going into detail on our top 5 ways of how you can incorporate your engagement photos into your wedding day! Let’s get to it!

1.) Use Your Engagement Photos In Your Save the Dates/Invitations

While this may come off as a no-brainer to some, it’s always a good reminder that you can use your engagement photos in your Save the Dates and invitations. Now, we often see more people using their photos in their Save the Dates since the design for these tend to be a bit more informal than invitations, which tend to be cleaner and simpler. But you can absolutely include them in your invitations too! You can feature them on the back as a whole picture or add a collage to the back of your invitations. Additionally, you can overlay your details by placing them in an open space or including a semi-transparent photo. There are many ways that you can use your engagement photos tastefully in your Save the Dates and invitations!

2.)Your Engagement Photos Can Be Wedding Decorations

Beyond Save the Dates and wedding invitations, we’ve seen many wedding couples use their engagement photos as wedding decorations! For example, you can frame your favorite engagement photos and place one in the center of every table in your reception. We’ve seen couples decorate the gift table or dessert table with their engagement pictures also. Additionally, you can have a sign made that you can place outside your ceremony location that features your engagement photos! It’s all about those subtle opportunities to include your engagement photos in your big day! There are so many inspirations on Pinterest. A couple we really liked are wooden pallets put together to create a wall with different picture frames hung on them or a copper pipe stand with a light on top that you can hang your favorite engagement photos from at your reception!

3.) Include Your Engagement Pictures in Your Ceremony Programs

Now, including your engagement pictures in your ceremony programs isn’t something that we have seen often but we think it is such a great idea! On the back of your ceremony programs, instead of leaving a blank space, include a fun picture from your engagement session that thanks your guests for coming. Additionally, it may count as a decoration but we’ve seen couples take their ceremony programs and glue an engagement photo printed on card stock on the other side to build a makeshift fan. This is perfect for summer weddings that can get a little overheated!

4.) Use Your Photos in Your Guest Book or Board

We design our clients custom guest books with their engagement photos. Guests can look through it and write something for you to look back on for year and years to come. This is a great way to share your love story with those closest around you while giving them a place to share their hearts with you as well!

A fairly new wedding trend is to have a guest board that your guests can sign! People have used engraved/wood-burned wooden slabs or ordered custom signs that can sit on an easel. You can customize a sign that features your engagement photos that can be used for guests to sign. These are both unique ways to have a guest book and great opportunities to use your engagement photos in yet another spot during your wedding day!

5.) Use Your Engagement Photos In Your Thank You’s

Using your engagement photos in your Thank You’s is also a great way to use photos from your engagement. We had the honor of capturing a wedding where the couple actually made Thank You cards with their engagement pictures and had them at each table so guests could take them home. That way, you can avoid having the hassle of sending out Thank You’s!

But if that’s not your vibe, that’s totally okay! You can still include your engagement photos in a collage with some of your wedding photos in your Thank You’s, thanking your guests for cheering you on from the moment you got engaged to the moment you said “I do!”
